We did WHAT?!

Living in an apartment is kind of less than ideal.  Apartments with decent square footage cost more than our budget allows OR are in a less than desirable part of town.  We recently decided to buckle under and truly start saving towards a house.  YIKES.  So much money.  Which is why we made the grown up decision to scale back our spring break trip from London to Vegas.  We’d already saved up for the London trip, but that money could be better used towards a house.  Visiting Katrina, Christy, and Maddie in Vegas is a pretty awesome alternative, though, so I’m still really looking forward to it!

So, back to the living in an apartment being not wonderful.  If Seth didn’t have so much computer stuff and I didn’t have so much craft stuff, it would be fine.  Since Seth’s computer stuff is work related, we’ve always had a designated area for him.  We haven’t been able to make a place for me to craft that doesn’t include the dining room table or the living room table.  Therefor, in an effort to keep the apartment cleaner, I haven’t been creative lately.

This past weekend we took some steps to work towards me having a creative space and still make room for guests, our own sleeping space, and Seth’s computer stuff.  For a couple of hours, this was the reality that was our apartment.

Our master bedroom was the bigger of the two bedrooms.  It is also attached to the master bath and walk in closet.  It made sense when we moved in to use that as our main bedroom.  Over the past couple of years our guest room has become more crowded while our bedroom stayed basically empty (bed, dresser, nightstands).  Over the weekend we swapped the rooms.  Since all we do is sleep in our bedroom, it makes sense to use the smaller of the two rooms to sleep in and the larger room to have our computer area and crafting area.  We’ll sleep in the guest room (our old room) when guests come so we still have access to our bathroom and closet so there aren’t really any negatives to this move.

Some people might think we are nuts, but when it comes to being wise with the space you are given, we were wasting space.  We are hopefully getting another desk in a couple of weeks to switch out with Seth’s so I can have a craft desk and then I’ll be able to show final reveal pictures.

Are you using your spaces wisely?

Our space is okay….but we still save too much stuff. My “personal” space is cluttered. I put off really taking care of it properly as other things are “more important.” That’s going to change in the next few weeks.

If clutter is your problem take the challenge to “de-clutter” at http://www.treasuretotreasure.blogspot.com

Blah, yeah I know how you feel both Mac’s and my hobbies take a lot of space infact neither of us have a single hobby that dosen’t take space, hockey, paintball, crafting, photography on and on. Anyway, I know how you feel and we do have a whole house, however we moved two houses into one so that was hard.

But I think your plan seems logical to me, can’t wait to see the end result.

We’re in the the same boat! Jess’s Computer stuff, my crafting… Ever expanding!! Eek!! It’s all shoved in our little room here in the house. Jess and I made our New Year’s Resolution to save up for a house as well. We’ll see if it happens :)

    Good Luck with the swap!
