Viva Las Vegas!

Our consolation prize for being adults and choosing to use our London trip fund for future down payment on a house was a trip to Vegas.  While some people travel there to have a “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” weekend of debauchery, we actually know people that live there.  If Katrina lived in Podunk, Oklahoma then we’d probably be going there instead.  The fact that she lives in a great vacation destination is an added bonus.  Neither Seth nor I have ever been so I’m starting my “Things to do in Vegas in the span of a 4 day trip” list.

1. Hoover Dam

The history nerd in me says this id a definite must see.  Plus my mom might kill me if I was that close and didn’t go see it.  And the regular nerd in me says “that’s where they hid Megatron and the All Spark!”  Yep.  I love me some Transformers.

2. Bellagio Fountains

Everyone that I’ve known who have gone to Vegas say the Bellagio Fountains are a must.  I’m easily entertained so lights and dancing water will be a big hit for me.  Well, as long as they are as fancy as everyone else makes them out to be.

3.  Neon Graveyard

I’m going to be doing engagement photos for Katrina while I’m out there and I think this place would be AMAZING to get some shots at.  And I just really like old stuff in general.  Especially quirky, old stuff.

4. Tattoo Parlor

JUST KIDDING MOM!

5.  Aunt Jean and Uncle Ray

Aunt Jean is on the far right.  She’s now 93 and Uncle Ray is 97.  They’ve been married over 70 years.  The best part?  In a city the size of Las Vegas, they live about a mile away from Katrina (right across a golf course).  So, I’m hoping to visit with them while we’re there.  They’ve never met Seth and I haven’t gotten to see them for years.

We’ll do all the normal Vegas strip stuff as well, but these are the things I am most looking forward to.  Feel free to add your suggestions if you’ve been!

  1. Katrina says:

    Hurry up March!

  2. Amber says:

It was fun and all we saw was the back of our hotel and a paintball field! So your trip should be a little better than that!

  3. Sarah J says:

I did the Neon Graveyard, and it was really cool! It’s way out on the north side of town, so it’s a long cab ride. We (foolishly) started walking back to town so we could check out Fremont St. Not really worth the trip. Stick with a cab there and back! You may want to check with them-I can’t remember if my sister-in-law made reservations for us… And you may want to ask about permission for the engagement photos.

We stayed at the Bellagio, and the fountains NEVER got old! They get bigger and more spectacular in the evening, but they’re always wonderful.

Just get ready for A LOT of walking! It looks like the Mirage is just down from the Bellagio, but Caeser’s is in between, and Caeser’s is HUGE! Take some bandaids for the blisters! Have fun!!!
